Helsinki Dance Theatre presents two premieres - Dreams of Sisyphus and Starting at the End as well as one piece from the company's repertoire - Embrace the Tide.

Exploring the feelings of waiting for that one moment that changes everything, unable totally relax and let go because arrival is definite. Different stages associated with this moment of life; anxiety, fear, acceptance and freedom will be presented. Could be in a stressful period waiting for calmness to wash over, or a period of calm knowing a storm is about to hit. Never really able to just sit back and go with the flow. But, realizing that a certain rhythm of life is needed...maybe taken to the extreme. Anticipating the unknown; could be positive, could be negative...but certain that the moment is on its way. Not just the start of a new day, but the start of a new way of life. How does this affect the mental and physical approach to our day to day lives? Does it make us hide our heads in the sand or try to reach beyond our comfort zone?

Helsinki Dance Theatre is a contemporary dance company founded in 2016. The artistic director Val Suarez has previously worked in for example in New York, Amsterdam and Stockholm. His broad experience from different countries and cultures, as well as his own Mexican-American background give him a unique perspective on today’s society.
