Introduction
The performance reflects on human existence, our relationship with one another, and our connection to the living environment around us. Rather than emphasising emotional excess, it proposes attentive inner listening and the quiet observation of the living world that surrounds us and struggles for its existence.
The dancers manipulate their own physical states and those of one another in ways that create a breathtaking, dreamlike experience that opens the senses. It feels as though their movements are reshaping space itself – altering directions and air pressure, gravity, magnetic fields, and the density and flow of the elements. The arc of life, from birth and flourishing to decline and disappearance, is transformed into danced poetry.
IHON TAKANEN is a stage work for five dancers and a musician, choreographed by Simo Heiskanen. It is a multidisciplinary work that brings together richly nuanced poetic movement, the expressive music composed by Milla Viljamaa, the refined costume design of Anna Ruohonen, and the subtle lighting design of Ville Virtanen into a cohesive artistic whole.
