Introduction
Viuluakatemia Aura and Raija Lehmussaaren Ballet School join forces in a unique interdisciplinary production in which music and dance intertwine across the ages.
The audience is invited on a fascinating journey from the bright sounds of the Renaissance through the splendour of the Baroque, the passion of Romanticism and the keen observation of Realism, all the way to the modern radiance of Rautavaara. Each era is brought vividly to life as talented dancers and violinists create living tableaux on stage – as though looking through glass into both the past and the future. Lasin läpi is more than a concert or a ballet performance; it is an immersive experience in which music becomes visible and dance can be heard.
A total of around 30 young artists will take part in the performance.
Renaissance, Baroque, Romanticism, Realism and Rautavaara
Gabrieli – Vivaldi – Bach – Saint-Saëns – Chopin – Bizet – Dvořák – Fauré – Prokofiev – Rautavaara

Viuluakatemia Aura
Viuluakatemia Aura is an association that brings together talented young violinists who firmly believe in the power of classical music in our rapidly changing world. They share a passion for mastering a demanding instrument and a desire to share their skills with others. Viuluakatemia Aura is a dynamic and creatively driven organisation dedicated to promoting the joy of violin playing in a variety of ways.
The association has actively organised masterclasses for advanced violin studies, artistically ambitious concerts and low-threshold performances throughout the Turku region. The artistic director of Viuluakatemia Aura is the esteemed violin pedagogue and violinist Arja Yurtseven. The academy’s young musicians have already gained significant solo performance experience and received recognition in both national and international violin competitions. Through the Lasin läpi production, they now take their first steps into the world of ballet.
Raija Lehmussaaren Ballet School
Raija Lehmussaaren Ballet School, led by the recipient of the Pro Finlandia Medal, has been providing ballet education for young people for seven decades. Over the years, the school has trained numerous ballet and contemporary dance professionals who now work both in Finland and internationally.
Today, graduates of the school can be found in companies including the Polish National Ballet, the Royal Swedish Ballet, Ballett am Rhein in Düsseldorf, The Australian Ballet and the Finnish National Ballet. Many former students also work as dance teachers in both public and private educational institutions.
The school's long-standing success is likely rooted in its approach of recognising each student as an individual and as a participant in the performing arts. The school’s director, Raija Lehmussaari, continues to work as a ballet teacher and choreographer alongside the school’s other dance professionals.
