The program of Helsinki Festival is full of intriguing performing arts pieces. One of them is Gisèle Vienne's Crowd that brings 15 dancers on stage for a rave party between dream and reality. Besides the performances, Vienne's group will be guiding a two-day workshop for dance professionals and advanced dancers on 31 August – 1 September at the Cable Factory.

Gisèle Vienne is a Franco-Austrian artist, choreographer and director who creates ambitious stage pieces that defy categorisations and often explore humanity in its multiple aspects. Vienne's piece Crowd considers rave parties as a modern ritual and strips bare the entire spectrum of human emotions – accompanied by a playlist covering 30 years of electronic music history curated by Peter Rehberg.

The two-day workshop Between motion and cinematographic writing: a new choreographic language offers an excellent possibility to discover Vienne's work through the materials of Crowd: stillness, living picture, still motion and disassembled movement.

The workshop is aimed for professional and advanced dancers. And it is guided by Sylvain Decloitre and Rémi Hollant.

The workshop is organized in collaboration with Helsinki Festival and Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation.

Time: Saturday August 31st and Sunday September 1st at 10:30-12:00
Place: Balanssi Studio, at the Cable Factory in Ruoholahti, Helsinki.
Price: 40 € for the 2-day workshop (will be invoiced mid July)
Cancellations: Registrations are non-refundable after July 31st.
