Introduction
A breathtaking tale of art and peril.
The first part of Brazilian Carolina Bianchi’s Cadela Força trilogy, The Bride and The Goodnight Cinderella, questions whether a female artist can survive a work of art.
The performance is framed by Bianchi’s lecture on women artists who have endangered themselves by making art: they have been raped, tortured, and murdered. Then, Bianchi raises a toast – and drinks knockout drops. Her mind plunges into darkness, but her body remains on stage for fellow actors to manoeuvre as a prop in scenes that combine art history, performance, documentary, and sleep.
The performance received its world premiere at the Festival d’Avignon in the summer of 2023.
This visiting performance is supported by Jane ja Aatos Erkko Foundation.
Organizer: & Espoon Teatteri
The performance is part of the &Fest programme. The festival celebrates democracy, creates a safe space for disagreement, opens room for debate, and encourages understanding of perspectives that may be unfamiliar.

Carolina Bianchi is a writer, theatre director, and performer born in Porto Alegre, Brazil, and based in Europe since 2020. Her work emerges from a perspective of crisis, creating bold confabulations about sexual violence and the history of art. Her staging blends diverse references from literature and painting, centering on violence through text and bodies that incarnate sensorial and performative gestures. She was awarded the Silver Lion of Biennale di Danza di Venezia in 2025.
