Eeva Muilu and Marjaana Toiminen Appointed to the Board of the Dance House Helsinki Foundation
Press releasesOn 15 April 2026, two new members were appointed to the Board of the Dance House Helsinki Foundation, which operates Dance House Helsinki: dance artist and Professor of Dance at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, Eeva Muilu, and Marjaana Toiminen, Business Director at the change consultancy Ellun Kanat.
The Chair of the Board, Tuuli Kousa, founding partner of The Activist Agency and a member of the Helsinki City Council, will continue in her role. Max Mickelsson, Senior Advisor for Public Affairs and Advocacy at Miltton Networks, has been appointed Vice Chair. The other continuing Board members are Risto Ruohonen, Chair of the Oulu Cultural Foundation, the organisation responsible for Oulu2026; Riku Lievonen, Public Affairs Consultant at Burson; and Paula Tuovinen, dance artist and specialist at Sivista.
Marjaana Toiminen brings extensive expertise in strategic development, communications and business leadership to the Foundation's Board. Eeva Muilu complements the Board with her distinguished expertise in dance and her insight into the artistic development of the field.
Marjaana Toiminen is an executive advisor with a long career in media leadership. She serves as Business Director at Ellun Kanat and has previously held positions including CEO of Bonnier Publications Finland and Editor-in-Chief of Image, Anna and Tanssi magazines. She has also worked as a culture journalist and dance critic for Aamulehti.
Eeva Muilu is Professor of Dance at the Theatre Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, where she leads the Master's Programme in Dance Performance. She has worked extensively as both a choreographer and a dancer, and her works have been presented widely in Finland and internationally.
Toiminen and Muilu succeed Anna Moilanen and Kirsi Monni, whose terms on the Board have come to an end.
The Board of the Dance House Helsinki Foundation serves as an expert board. Its role is to ensure that Dance House Helsinki fulfils its mission of advancing dance as an art form and dance culture, while overseeing the Foundation's governance and financial management.
