Development project for the sustainable internationalisation of dance and circus, 2025–2028.
Loisto is a joint project by Zodiak – Center for New Dance, Cirko – Center for New Circus and Dance House Helsinki. It acts as a catalyst for the sustainable internationalisation of dance and circus. The project aims to bring about structural changes in the Finnish dance and circus sectors that are essential for international success and, through it, for strengthening the sectors and increasing employment.
The project is based on extensive research and benchmarking carried out between 2022 and 2024.
The long-term impacts sought through the development work include:
- extending the life cycles of artistic works
- integrating the Finnish dance and circus sectors more closely into the international production and presentation landscape
- strengthening expertise in co-production within the dance and circus sectors
- increasing the quality, impact and economic volume of artistic production
- growing audiences for dance and circus both in Finland and internationally
- strengthening the sectors’ operating structures, their ability to retain and attract professionals, and their overall vitality
The Loisto 2025–2028 project is funded by the Jane and Aatos Erkko Foundation and administered by Zodiak.
